Top 10 Questions Our Customers Ask Us About Buying Flooring

Some people call or stop in and seem overwhelmed at the idea of purchasing new flooring, stating they’ve never done this before. Relax! That is why your local experts in flooring are here to help guide you through the process and answer any questions you may have. 

As a jump start to answering your questions, here are the top 10 questions our customers ask us.

1. How Does the Process of Buying Flooring Work? 

We find it’s usually best to stop in to one of our showrooms to get an idea of what type of flooring you are interested in. Our experts can help guide you with 

  • What flooring typically goes in what rooms of the home
  • What trends we are seeing
  • What the cost/pricing will be

The next step is to set up a free, no-obligation measure request. One of our seasoned measure technicians will contact you to set up a time to come to your residence and measure everything. 

The technicians like to know what material is going where because there are certain things they look for such as current flooring and underlayment, uneven subfloors, baseboards, etc. 

Once we have the flooring selections and measurements, we are able to provide you with a firm quote, so you can make a decision.

The next step is for you to provide a down payment or an approved line of credit in order for the materials to be ordered. When the materials arrive, we can schedule the installation.

2. Does (This) Ever Go On Sale?

Yes! Carpet Weaver’s has several sales throughout the year. Sign up for our email list and ask your sales consultant about any current promotions. In addition to our sale prices, occasionally rebates and special pricing are offered by our suppliers, so you can load up on the savings.

3. What Is the Normal Turnaround Time?

Turnaround time may vary from store to store (we have ten locations!). Depending on if the flooring you’ve chosen is in stock at Carpet Weaver’s or our vendor, we can typically get it installed within two to four weeks.

4. How Much Do I Have to Put Down?

Carpet Weaver’s requires at least 75% down or an approved line of credit with our 0% interest Wells Fargo financing program.

5. Do Your Installation Prices Include Moving Furniture?

Most of our installers will move furniture, but this is an additional cost. Please keep in mind that they are not professional furniture movers. Installers are not allowed to move such items as:

  • Grandfather clocks
  • Pool tables
  • Electronic equipment
  • Exercise equipment
  • Pianos

If you wish to move your own furniture, it is possible to split a large job into two days.

6. Why Isn’t There Tax on The Quote?

Carpet Weaver’s is subject to the Illinois Use Tax, which essentially means that because we are installing the flooring, we pay the tax.

7. Do You Have Your Own Installers?

All of our installers are subcontractors, but the majority of their work is done for Carpet Weaver’s. All of the installers are licensed, insured, and experienced. 

8. Is This in Stock?

Carpet Weaver’s stocks a limited supply of carpet and luxury vinyl flooring. The majority of our offerings are special order. We do have the ability to check stock with our vendors, so we are able to estimate when your materials should arrive. 

In terms of furniture, we stock several upholstered pieces and case goods (tables, dressers, curios, etc.). (Find our best selections of in stock furniture at our Bloomington, Champaign, and Springfield locations.) Many items, including area rugs, can be sold off of the showroom floors. Special orders for furniture are taking anywhere from 5 to 8 weeks, depending on the availability of parts and the supplier’s turnaround time.

9. Do We Have to Be Home During the Installation?

It is not required for you to be home during the installation, but it is always a good idea to discuss the scope of the project with the installer. Many customers will supply us with a key or an access code, or simply let the installers in and then head into work.

10. Do You Offer In-Home Design Services?

Yes! We realize that not everyone is comfortable with design decisions, or they may be unsure of current trends. Many of our sales consultants are able to make home visits and give you some great design and staging ideas. Read more about our Shop-At-Home services out of our Springfield locations.
